Message from the POGS President
As the identified leader of reproductive health, the Philippine Obstetrical and Gynecological Society (Foundation), Inc. marks its 63rd Anniversary Celebration with the 2009 Annual Convention. In its commitment to serve the Filipino people by advancing the art and science of reproductive health, we have taken initiatives toward women empowerment through effective information dissemination and health care education. It is for this reason that this year we pursued the theme “Babae . . . Kalusugan Mo, Katungkulan Natin.”
The Society has continuously enhanced professional growth and expanded community service in an effort to reduce perinatal mortality and morbidity, reproductive tract infections and cancer. It has also actively participated in projects to increase awareness of women’s health issues. During these trying times, our Society is further challenged to assume an active position on reproductive health issues. I therefore enjoin everyone to participate in the different fora that will orient and update us in the various aspects of reproductive health. Let this academic gathering be a venue for dynamic and relevant learning. Let it surpass scholastic levels and motivate us to pursue dedicated service to the Filipino women that transcends socio-economic borders.
Congratulations to the Organizing Committee for competently bringing to fruition our mission vision in this year’s assembly. Let us continue to contribute to the activities that will foster stronger women’s advocacy programs.
The Annual Convention is indeed a time for fellowship and renewal of ties. Likewise, let this convention and all subsequent annual conventions be a renewal of our dedicated commitment to women’s health care.
Once again, this is our convention! Let’s own it! Mabuhay tayong lahat!
LOURDES R. BLANCO-CAPITO, M.D.
